Speech Therapy Services

Free Phone Consultation

  • Does my child really need speech therapy?
  • How does this all work?
  • I've never heard of Block Therapy before.  What is it?
  • Can you really help my child talk?
You have lots of questions about speech and language therapy.  That's okay!  Perhaps this is all new to you, or maybe you are eager to get started.  Whatever your questions, give us a call.  The speech therapist will take as much time as needed to answer your questions and help you decide the next steps for your child and your family.

Comprehensive Speech and Language Evaluation

A comprehensive speech and language evaluation is crucial to understanding a person's communication strengths and weaknesses as well as monitoring progress throughout therapy.  Speech and language evaluations give the speech therapist information about many factors that influence communication and help to develop specific goals for therapy. Depending on the needs of your child, evaluation will consider different areas of speech and language, including
  • what and how your child communicates
  • syntax/grammar and how your child combines words into sentences
  • vocabulary and semantics (word meanings)
  • speech production or the speech sounds your child can make
  • hearing screening if needed
  • auditory processing skills
  • social language skills (how your child uses verbal and non-verbal language to interact with other people).
The speech therapist will use a variety of materials, including formal tests, informal observations, and lots of play to learn as much as possible about your child.  Parent/caregiver input is also important in the evaluation process, so you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire designed to learn about your child's history and communication needs.

Teleptherapy

We are now offering teletherapy - speech and language therapy delivered via secure video conferencing!

What is teletherapy?
  • Teletherapy is speech and language therapy conducted using video-conferencing over the internet.  The speech therapist addresses the same goals as in an in-person session. The best part?  You and your child can remain at home!

How does it work?
  • Therapy is conducted 1-on-1 with a speech therapist over secure video conferencing, like Google Meet.
  • The therapist uses engaging activities to address your child's needs, while also providing helpful tips for carry-over to the rest of your day.

What are the requirements?
  • The child must have a computer with webcam and speakers and a quiet, distraction-free place to work.
  • Consistent internet access with appropriate speeds for video conferencing.
  • A parent or caregiver must be present to assist with technology as needed, encourage motivation and participation, and most of all, learn helpful strategies to promote carry-over of skills.
